Ateneo de Davao University is really a premiere Filipino, Catholic and Jesuit College founded by the Philippine Province with the Society of Jesus in year 1948 which aims to establish a standard of excellence in academic and spiritual formation in a variety of fields.
The College single-mindedly aspires to champion a strong tradition of educational excellence and of greater service. In this program, college students live with marginalized communities, such as indigenous peoples, farmers and fisherfolks, street kids along with the urban poor. Some students and faculty volunteer to build houses and homes for the internally displaced men and women (IDPs) in coordination with Gawad Kalinga. Thus, to enable the students to become persons-for-others, the Jesuit education insists on critical thinking, educational excellence, creativity, scholarly analysis, and personality development that includes integrity, and commitment to the poor and marginalized.
